Nothing But Thieves Oakland Concert reviews
Not like the first year, profits, profits, profits
We attended for the second year, opting for the lawn both times due to the cost and open space we enjoyed. The first year, a group of 12 of us stood in the rain and had a great time. Nothing But Thieves, as a great host, was gracious and appreciative of attendees. The event focused more on fun rather than profit and successfully delivered on that theme. This year, we organized a group of 30 from across Tenn. for the event, once again choosing the lawn. Ticket prices increased from $35 to $58 each, and we could no longer purchase them on site in advance. Beer prices went up from $5 to $7. Our lawn seats were now reserved, resulting in us being moved to the side with less visibility compared to the first year. All these changes would have been acceptable if the main event, Nothing But Thieves, had put in the same effort as before to justify the increased costs. Last year, the performance was energetic and lasted over two hours, leaving us excited for the next year. However, this year's show was lacking, lasting only around an hour and 40 minutes with a lackluster encore attempt. It felt like the performer didn't want to be there, which was disappointing for all 30 of us in the lawn area. The atmosphere was different from last year, lacking the same energy and effort. Despite the perfect weather, the show felt rushed, leaving us questioning what went wrong. We noticed that older rockers like Bruce (67) and Paul Mc (72) can play for three hours with full dedication. We plan to attend next year with a smaller group, hoping for the return of the energy from the first year. We are open to giving it another chance, but hope that prices won't increase again.
